What are the benefits of having a DAP?
How do I obtain a DAP?
How long does my DAP last?
What happens if a creditor won't accept the passport?
Developed for clients of Money Advice Hub’s free debt advice service, the DAP is designed to inform creditors of your financial difficulties and request informal breathing space.
It includes:
Your personal details and Money Advice Hub case reference
Any special circumstances affecting your situation
The debt solution you intend to pursue
An issue and expiry date
We strongly recommend staying in contact with your creditors and requesting reduced payments or a temporary hold on your account. Most creditors expect you to be seeking debt advice before agreeing to special terms and may ask for your case reference as proof.
Our Debt Advice Passport is a verified tool that simplifies this process. Once generated, you can share it with all your creditors, including if your debt is transferred to a different collection agency.
Your debt advice case manager should offer this to you during the advice process once your information has been verified.
Only authorised Money Advice Hub can issue the Debt Advice Passport to you.
You will be issued a PDF to share with your creditors as many times as necessary.
Your Debt Advice Passport (DAP) is valid for 6 months from the date it’s issued.
If your circumstances change or you need an updated version after this period, just get in touch and we’ll help you renew it.
So far, our clients haven’t had issues with creditors accepting the passport, but this could change in future.
If you do encounter any problems, please let us know. We’re keen to monitor this and work with creditors to prevent it from happening again.
