Gross

Gross is the total amount before any deductions. For example, gross salary is the total amount of your salary before the deduction of tax and National Insurance.

Ground Rent

A charge which might have to be paid along with service charges where a property is owned on a leasehold basis. Ground rent is often a nominal amount but it is none the less a priority as non-payment could lead to loss of the home.

Grounds For Possession

Legal reasons that landlords and lenders can use if they want to get a court order to evict someone. The most common grounds are rent or mortgage arrears, but other grounds include antisocial behaviour or illegal subletting.

Guarantor

A guarantor is someone who agrees to pay a debt if the person who owns the debt fails to do so.
